Your Questions Answered About The Fields Of Law

Hello, my name is Susan Farris and my hobby is learning about the law. I have an uncle who is an attorney and I've always looked up to him and that's why I find subjects on law very interesting. Through speaking with my uncle and doing research on my own, I've learned about all the different fields of law. Each field of law centers on its own subject and most attorneys specialize in a certain area of law. These include criminal, personal injury, family, bankruptcy, criminal, immigration and business. I find each one of these fields very interesting and I have the utmost admiration for lawyers because they help people through their legal struggles. I wanted to share this information with others who have questions about the different types of attorneys and the law.

Can You Lose Your Social Security Benefits? Learn How And What To Do

Being approved for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits can take a long time. It's difficult too since many applicants are turned down and have to go through an appeals process to get approved. That is not the end of any potential SSDI problems, though. Find out what can cause your SSDI benefits to stop and how to get your payments going again.

Your Income Is Too High

The Social Security Administration (SSA) monitors your income once you begin receiving benefits. As of 2021, recipients can only earn $1,350 ($2,260 for the blind) a month before triggering a stoppage. However, the SSA has several programs that allow recipients to exceed those amounts as long as the requirements for the programs are met. Review these programs under the Ticket to Work programs. If you try to avoid reporting income by being paid in cash, you could face a permanent stoppage of benefits and owe money to the SSA as a result.

Your Condition Improved

You might want your medical or mental health condition to get better, but you could end up losing your benefits that way. The SSA conducts periodic reviews (continuing disability reviews) of your impairment to see if you can return to work. In some cases, recipients of benefits are asked to undergo a medical exam for the SSA. Younger recipients and those with conditions that the SSA deems likely to improve may be evaluated more often. On the other hand, those with more serious and permanent conditions that seldom improve enough to go back to work may face less frequent continuing disability reviews.

Arrested and Incarcerated

As long as you are incarcerated, no benefits are paid until your release. Even if you are in jail awaiting your trial date, the SSA will stop your payments temporarily. It's worth knowing that if the arrest is connected to fraudulent SSDI issues, you are not likely to have those benefits reinstated.

Many people are shocked and upset to find that their benefits have come to an end. However, just because the SSA has stopped your benefits is no reason to give up on things. Everyone who loses their benefits can use the SSA appeals process. With an appeal, you can speak to an administrative law judge and explain the circumstances. For the best result, speak to a Social Security lawyer about your loss of benefits. They can not only help you get your benefits started back, but you may also be owed back pay for the money you should have been receiving. If there is a way to get your money coming in again, the Social Security lawyer will help you.
